	Steve is a graduate from San Diego State University and is preparing to produce a feature. Steve has produced three previous films for the director of Soledad and has written two screenplays. He also is the sound designer for Soledad. STEVE WILT: I am a staunch believer that in order for a film to succeed (or anything in life) you must be able to express a complete and utter devotion to it. Soledad for me was the exemplification of this edict. Making this film was like pressing the hold button on life for over a year, but as a producer you must do this, it is so essential for the ultimate integrity of your project. My advice to anybody who wants to work in film, especially as a producer, would be to believe and love your project like it was a member of your own family. Your film is going to become your little baby brother for a long while and he is going to need lots of nurturing and attention. For Soledad in particular we had to do our homework during pre-production as much as possible. I mean here we are trying to make a film that is to be shot solely in San Diego County, and, is a period piece, and, is set in a different geographic region. So I read books about the Deep South and I also was lucky enough to have an awesome art director for Soledad named Nancy Andrisani. Nancy is very knowledgeable about the specific time period in United States history when Soledad takes place. What I ended up doing was scouting potential sites incessantly for about two weeks. I mean I was driving over two-hundred miles a day trying to find locations that were as similar as possible to the Deep South in the 1800s. But it paid off because what was found, with a little cheating, works really well for the film. The bottom line is that I had a lot of fun making this film and even though I've produced stuff before I'm still learning something new every day.
